Making Maths Fun!
Staff from across R.E.A.L. Education have been continuing their professional development by discovering techniques to re-engage learners with maths.
Learning Manager, Martin Kirkland ran ‘The Making Maths Fun’ twilight session at the Blidworth Hub on 21st November. The well attended session provided tutors with ideas and starting points that could be developed and explored to give learners an enjoyment of maths.
Martin said: “Many of our learners are skilled and enthusiastic games players. Using games to teach maths is an effective way to harness these interests and allow our learners to improve their maths skills at the same time.”
There are two further continued professional development maths sessions for staff planned in December and January (with more to come throughout the academic year) – all with the ultimate aim of improving the academic skills of our learners.
