10 Years and Growing Stronger – R.E.A.L. Staff Conference
The new spring term started on a positive note on Monday 8th January as the full R.E.A.L. Staff Conference took place at the DoubleTree Hilton in Nottingham.
With 200 staff members attending from across both independent schools, vocational group provision and commissioned services, the day was a fantastic opportunity to roll-out new technology, take part in interactive sessions and recognise success.
A key part of the day was the launch of the new staff phone app. This is new innovative software that has been commissioned and designed to allow all teaching staff to view and mark learner’s attendance via their smart phones, and be compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulations.
Another major part of the conference was an expertly delivered session on self-harm and domestic abuse, in partnership with the Harmless and Equation charities.
At the end of the day, the Directors of R.E.A.L. offered a Question Time style session. They then handed out awards to the teams who have demonstrated exceptional practice – and also numerous accolades received by R.E.A.L. by outside organisations, including the British Chamber of Commerce. The day was rounded off by Nicky Bailey, Trustee, presenting the Princess Diana Award to Courtnie Watts, our very own R.E.A.L. Student Ambassador.
The annual Staff Conference is fast becoming an event which is valued not just by all staff, but with Trustees, parents, Governors and commissioners also getting in on the act.
Kay Carter, Operations Manager said: “It is always a joy to see our staff all together, and to realise just how big our organisation has grown. The event was to celebrate R.E.A.L. moving into its 10th year and growing stronger, and I hope everyone left feeling really positive about the future. Watch out, the next event is going to be even bigger and better!”
