R.E.A.L. Creative Digital on the Move!
It’s an exciting time for R.E.A.L. Creative Digital as plans are being finalised for their move to a purpose-built new location.
The design ideas have been a very much an ‘outside of the box’ process. In addition to relocating state of the art equipment, there are also plans to develop a creative ‘Zen Garden’ – an open space with trees, grass, pebbles and light.
The new ‘flow’ of the building will also encourage young people to move around the space whilst carrying out their work or going through a creative process.
In addition to the exciting move, R.E.A.L. Creative Digital are going from strength-to-strength in terms of links with industry partners and educational offerings.
The provision currently offers a two-year level 4 (foundation degree) creative practitioner course (which is apprenticeship based), and the team are looking at further developments into higher levels of education for the coming year. The apprenticeships available at R.E.A.L. are also likely to be broadened substantially as a result of ongoing successes.
R.E.A.L.’s Creative Digital offering is truly unique in that it is founded on work-based experience in the creative digital arts industry. R.E.A.L. apprentice undergraduate learners deal directly with clients such as Sony, NHS, Vahterus and Dalmatian Systems. In doing this, they gain valuable, relevant skills whilst building commercial portfolios.
The strong links R.E.A.L. has with industry partners and the high skill level obtained by its learners, often means that positions of employment are offered to them on completion of the course.
Neil Kellow, Lead Teacher of Creative Digital at R.E.A.L. Education said: “The move to a custom-built building, specifically designed to enhance the skills of our young people and increase their creativity will only serve to help them with their future careers.
“This move represents a huge step in aligning the image of who R.E.A.L. Creative Digital are and it will certainly strengthen our ongoing commercial partnerships within the creative sector.”
The department hopes to be in its new Mansfield-based building around Easter time.
To gain a place with this unique department, potential learners need to show a creative mind and the eagerness to learn the skills necessary to be successful in today’s booming creative digital sector.
