R.E.A.L. Junior Enterprise Success
Last term a Junior Enterprise team from R.E.A.L. Independent School took part in the Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 Junior Enterprise Competition.
The aim of the competition was for learners to develop an understanding of how to set up a small business enterprise to sell a product, including taking into account the costs and responsibilities involved.
The team developed ‘Grab and Go’ activity boxes for young children. They then spent a day at Mansfield Market selling the boxes, making a fantastic profit of £158 and completely selling out of their product!
The team’s efforts were recognised by the judges, and they won a fantastic three prizes! The R.E.A.L. team picked up the awards for: ‘Most Entrepreneurial Spirit’, ‘Best Product’ and learner Haydon was singled out for the ‘Shining Star’ award.
Stacey Edwards, Key Stage 2 and 3 Curriculum Improvement Lead at R.E.A.L. Education said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the young people in Key Stage 3 and I am so proud of their achievements.
“It allowed them to develop their perseverance, communication and social skills as well as English and maths. They worked really hard as a team with great support from staff supporting, whom we couldn’t have done it without.
“I’d also like to thank everyone that supported us with this project, especially those that bought the young people’s fantastic product.”
This project forms part of the extensive careers and advice programme offered to young learners across R.E.A.L. See the R.E.A.L. Education website for more details.
