Caring2Learn

In 2018, R.E.A.L Education achieved a GOLD standard as a ‘Caring School’ by Caring2Learn Lincolnshire.

Caring2Learn is a Lincolnshire County Council research project with an overall aim of improving a wide range of outcomes for Lincolnshire’s looked after, post-looked after and other vulnerable children and young people.

The Caring2Learn project is part of the Department for Education’s investment in local authorities to improve education, policy and practice, and has recently gone on to win a national Children and Young People Now Award in the Children in Care category.

So far, 117 foster carers and 140 education providers have accessed the programme, with 30 schools being accredited as ‘Caring Schools’. R.E.A.L. Education is the only alternative provision provider and independent school out of all these schools to have been awarded a GOLD standard.

Kay Carter, Head of Safeguarding at R.E.A.L. Education, said: “We are all incredibly proud of our colleagues in Lincolnshire County Council for pioneering this programme. It has been so valuable to participate in the training and the self-assessment process to ensure we provide the very best for all our young people but more importantly those in the care system.”
