Deaf Awareness Week at R.E.A.L.
Staff at R.E.A.L.’s Nanpantan hub in Leicestershire have been making videos of themselves signing their name in British Sign Language to mark Deaf Awareness Week (4th to 10th May 2020).
The videos, mostly filmed by staff at home, were designed to remotely encourage learners to learn how to sign their name in British Sign Language. The videos have also been tweeted out on R.E.A.L. Education’s Twitter account, without sound, with followers asked to guess the name of the staff member just from their video!
On site R.E.A.L. Adventure learners (children who are classed as vulnerable or whose parents are key workers) also marked the week by creating a brilliant wall display whilst also learning all about the language. A Concorde House learner and tutor also completed another fantastic display just before the Coronavirus lockdown.
